Snake Charmer

Continued from Jet Pack (Part 6)
-----------------------------

It was rare for Joe to find himself at a house party. Sure, he went to the odd one that Nina threw, but he was a man’s man. He liked beer, he liked sports, and he liked pubs. He was not the kind of guy to go to a party where women acted like whores and men acted like idiots. Especially if there was shit music playing.
But here he was, at a party where he knew hardly anyone, looking around for a girl that wasn’t his own. Matt had been invited, but he had work ‘til late. He’d turn up eventually, and Nina had asked Joe to come earlier to keep her company.
“I don’t want to be alone with a whole lot of drunk, sleazy guys!” she’d told him.

When Joe had pulled up, he took a few hasty swigs from the bourbon bottle that had been under his passenger seat. He knew Nina well enough, and once in a blue moon they’d hung out, but the idea of being at a party with just Nina made him nervous.

He grabbed his alcohol and phone, and slowly walked up the drive to the party, attempting to look as relaxed as possible.

-----------------------------

Nina happened to look out the window as Joe was walking up the path. She smiled a little at his swagger, then stumbled back to the kitchen through the crowds of people, pouring him a very stiff vodka mix.

-----------------------------

Joe didn’t really know how it happened. After an incredibly strong drink forced upon him by Nina- it was really a giant shot, rather than a drink- He and Nina had gone up to the deck outside to escape the stuffy atmosphere indoors. They’d been leaning on the hand railing talking about rugby, when all of a sudden Nina had grabbed him.
He hadn’t seen it coming, and if he had he might have considered stopping it.

Might have.

As Nina pulled him in and her lips kissed his, he noticed a lot about Nina that he’d never had the chance to before. She was a lot shorter than him, which wasn’t too uncommon a situation for Joe, being 6 foot 4.
She smelled good. Really good. Joe wasn’t good at identifying scents, but if he had to describe how Nina smelled, it was like some kind of fruit. Tangy but sweet. He wasn’t too good at being descriptive either.

She put her hands on his waist and held him tight, her fingers pressing into the skin beneath his shirt. He felt her pull his pelvis against hers, and could do nothing to stop himself getting harder against her.

With what happened next, Joe could have easily decided right then that Nina was crazy.
But he never did quite work Nina out.

Maybe it was the strong mix of alcohol in his system, or the shock of being kissed by such soft lips- maybe he’d even inhaled too much of Nina’s perfume. But Joe didn’t stop Nina immediately. They were drunker than they’d ever been together, and later he would find it hard to recall when exactly they had stopped.
Probably after she’d swallowed.

She reached for the button on his jeans, all the while still kissing him. Maybe if she’d removed her lips from his and given him time to think, he would have stopped her.
Maybe.

But she kept kissing him as she unzipped his jeans, as she moved her hand lower. Her lips migrated slowly down as well, caressing his neck gently but firmly. He certainly felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up then.
Nina kissed lower and lower before she knelt down on the decking, still damp from the rain earlier than evening.

Joe briefly panicked about the openness of the whole situation; only a door separating them from the others inside, and nothing but the dark hiding them from any watching eyes outside. But Nina quickly took him in her mouth- and then he wasn’t thinking with his brain any longer.

"and once in a blue moon they’d hung out"

Detail! From what I've read, they're ALWAYS hanging out. Did you mean "they'd hung out (without Matt)?"

As far as the climactic scene... good balance of being clear without being blunt.

Kiwis must throw different house parties than the ones I've been to...

Other than the obvious with Nina, I'm not sure why Joe's nervous. A house party makes it worse than being alone with her?

Poor Matt.

Nooooooo, Joe! I wanted him to stop her. All this time I wanted them to get together, but she was so blatant, so fast, so absentminded about the fact she had a boyfriend (his friend) who was going to be hurt by this, and even her immediate willingness to perform such an intimate act with Joe.

You gave me a character I like disliking! That's a good thing :).
