Theme Thursday - Lunch
You know, for a teenager, I am really blessed with the jobs that I've had.
The majority of teenagers I know have jobs they dislike;
working in fast food places, stacking shelves, washing dishes, being a checkout chick (or, as I recently heard it called, a 'scan man') and other relatively monotonous jobs.
But I have worked in a Hair & Beauty Salon with awesome people for the last few years, and last year I was headhunted (I won't deny it, I'm rather proud of this fact!) to be an assistant gym coach for children at the Rec Centre in Lyttelton.
And then, these holidays, I've had the awesome privilege of being a coach for the Sport Canterbury Holiday Programs.
Basically, its like being in a 5 hour long P.E. class (This probably sounds like torture to some of you!).
I have had so much fun this week!
We had an awesome game of soccer on Monday, George (another leader) and I had an epic face-off in Unihoc, and I successfully took a touch game today, even though Bob only taught me the rules for touch last week!
Playing sport with these kids all day has been heaps of fun. They're all really awesome kids, and I don't have to pretend I'm an adult when were all running around together. (Of course, I go into 'adult' mode when I'm explaining rules or anything).
Its quite a nice escape really.
I only work half days, so when lunch time rolls around, I don't really want to go home. At lunch, we often just have a random assortment of gear out, and yesterday it was really cool to teach some of the kids badminton serves, (I give full credit to Mr. Barlow for teaching me how to serve last year, thanks to him, I know all the technique and mechanics involved!) kids pick up things like that so much easier!
So naturally, when I went to leave at lunch today, and they asked me to work a full day tomorrow, I jumped at the chance. :)
